McHenry Dance Centre

Dance competitions and workshops are a major part of the dance world. Competitions and workshops are exciting, fun, and exhilirating ways for dancers to show off their abilities and talents. In addition, it also provides students with the ability to learn from other competitors and/or choreographers during these events.

Selection to a McHenry Competition Team is NOT automatic. This honor is based on natural dance potential, hard work and commitment in class. In addition, these dancers have the ability to accept constructive critism as well as have a good attitude toward their classmates.

In addition to the student showing committment to the team through near-perfect attendance, little tardiness, and attentiveness during class, there is an equal committment of the family. There is a financial as well as emotional backing that will provide the competitive student with the ability to attend competions both on the regional and national level.

Students are invited to join a competition team at the discretion of the teacher and the studio.

We do several fundraisers a year to help the competition students with their tuition, costumes and competition fees. We also do pizza sales to benefit all of our students.
